The Town of Occoquan aims to keep its residents updated on emergencies and events happening in the community in a timely and adequate manner.

To do that, the Town communicates with residents through three primary methods. For non-emergency, non-real time communications, the Town uses (1) the monthly newsletter (hard-copy and electronically via the site and subscribed emailers), and (2) the email subscription list (mass emails via Town accounts). For emergency, real-time communications, the Town uses (3) the AlertOccoquan notification system via a partnership with Prince William County (push notifications, texts, emails, and/or calls via the Everbridge mass notification system).

Starting July 2025, residents will receive both the electronic copy of the newsletter and all other non-emergency, non-real time mass email communications through the Town’s third party email system.

AlertOccoquan

The easiest way to be aware of what’s happening in Town is to stay informed! AlertOccoquan is the official Town of Occoquan mass notification system that sends you real-time notifications. You can sign up to receive alerts on: Severe Weather, Traffic Accidents, Utility Outages, Public Safety Incidents, School Closings, Special Events, and other Town Government Information.

Monthly Town Newsletter

The Town of Occoquan writes and distributes a hard copy monthly town newsletter to all of its residents and businesses located within the town’s boundaries.  The newsletter is distributed during the last week of the month and highlights upcoming events and activities, and provides information on recent Council actions and important issues impacting the town. All residents receive a hard copy to their PO Boxes each month. If you do not have a PO Box and/or want to receive a digital copy of the newsletter, sign up for the Resident Email List above.
