Mill Street Pocket Park Mural at The Mural Garden
In the Fall of 2025, The Town of Occoquan received a Community Vitality Grant from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. The Town will used this grant to improve an underused area of the historic downtown to create a new public space with community based public art. As part of the grant, a mural will be installed at the pump house building located at 172 Mill Street to add public art to the proposed Pocket Park.
On June 16th, 2026 Town Council declared that this space be named The Mural Garden. The Mural by Tyler Kauffman, Gathering Currents was dedicated soon after on June 27th, 2026. Feel free to take a rest in the space in the back of the park!
Route 123 and Commerce Mural
In the spring of 2023, the Town of Occoquan held its first mural contest. Out of over a dozen submissions, the Town Council awarded artist Alethea Marie Robinson a $5,000 prize to install her work on the retaining wall at the intersection of Route 123 and Commerce Street. Every day thousands will enjoy a beautiful work of art that welcomes visitors and residents alike to the Town of Occoquan.
