The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) is a board of five town residents appointed by the Circuit Court of Prince William County, on the recommendation of the Town Council, to serve five-year terms. The Board’s primary duty is to hear and decide on appeals from any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by the Town’s Zoning Administrator or any administrative officer in the administration or enforcement of the Town’s zoning ordinance, Chapter 157 of the Town Code. Sections 33.20-33.31 of the Town Code further address the structure, activities, and duties of the Board of Zoning Appeals.
The Occoquan Board of Zoning Appeals generally meets at least once a year in January for its annual organizational meeting at the Occoquan Town Hall. In addition, it holds special sessions on an as needed basis to hear appeals brought before it.
