Riverwalk Vision Planning Process – 2023/2024 – Click Here for More Details and Updates!
The Town of Occoquan accepted the Riverwalk Vision Plan in November 2023 and authorized the Mayor to create the Riverwalk Expansion Special Committee (RESC) and appoint its members. The RESC reported to Town Council in May 2024 with a roadmap for expanding the riverwalk and realizing the Town’s vision. Town staff will work on the preliminary engineering and design of the Riverwalk in FY2025.

Union and Commerce Stormwater Pipe Replacement – July 2024
On July 17th, 2024, Town contractors completed work on the removal and replacement of degraded stormwater pipes in and around the intersection of Union and Commerce Streets. Striping was completed on August 10th, 2024.
This project was funded via a 2022 ARPA Appropriation from the Commonwealth of Virginia to address sediment removal and stormwater remediation in the Town. This will be the final component of that grant funding. The first component was used to remove sediment from the Occoquan River in December 2022.
Occoquan River Crossing – 2022/2023 – Click Here for Logistics and Updates!
The Occoquan River Crossing project is a collaborative effort between Fairfax Water, Prince William County Service Authority (PWCSA), and Virginia American Water (V-AW) to increase drinking water transmission capacity and enhance system reliability for existing and future PWCSA and V-AW customers in eastern Prince William County.
This project will replace aging potable water transmission main crossings of the Occoquan River with dual 42-inch mains inside a 400-foot long tunnel to cross beneath the river near the Town of Occoquan. The construction work will occur on Fairfax Water property and within existing Fairfax Water easements and will last for approximately sixteen months. More Information from Fairfax Water
Mill Street Recrowning – In Progress
On Tuesday, March 8, 2022, VDOT contractors milled and paved Mill Street from the Ellicott/Mill Street intersection to the cul-de-sac. This work was intended to address the recurring water issue on that section of Mill Street. Upon initial inspection after completion of the paving work on March 8, additional crowning work is needed and VDOT is aware of the continued water flow issue after paving. Town staff is working with VDOT staff to correct the crowning issue on this section of the roadway. Background on Mill Street Drainage Issues
Brick Sidewalk Repairs – Large Project Completed; Minor Brick Repair Continuing
Town staff is continuing to repair and replace loose and damaged bricks within the Town’s brick sidewalks. The Town is responsible for the maintenance of most brick sidewalks and the curb attached to brick sidewalks within the Town. Some brick sidewalks are maintained by HOAs or other private entities.

The Mill at Occoquan Project – Active
The Mill at Occoquan project is a redevelopment project located at 401-411 Mill Street in the Town’s historic district. The project is a mixed-use development with first floor commercial (retail and restaurant space) and 52 residential units above. The project also includes two lower levels for on-site parking. In addition, the project includes an extension of the Town’s public Riverwalk along the Occoquan River. Learn More About the Project
Rivertown Overlook Townhome Development – Inactive
The Rivertown Overlook project includes the development of eight townhomes at the corner of Center Lane and Ellicott Street. The project is in the close out process.
Kiely Court Project – Inactive
The Kiely Court project includes the development of two townhomes on Mill Street at 430 and 426 Mill Street. The project is in the close out process.
